woman-remembering

A few times over the last month, I have been asked the question, ‘Whatever happened to…”  Fortunately I knew the story of the person asked  about, a couple of times I had no idea.  For whatever reason I have lost contact with many people.  Most of my friends from grade and high school days have become distant memories for me.  One reason is, I have moved away from my home town.  There was a time in the 1980’s in which our family doctor had graduated from the same high school that i attended.  I also had the privilege of pastoring one of my childhood school friends.  Today this friend has moved to another part of the country as have I.  My youth group friends have likewise scattered.  I hear from a few of them periodically, but again, I do not live in my home town and therefore have few opportunities to interact with members of my youth group.

Facebook has been helpful in that I can at least keep in touch.  I know people love to criticize  this an other social media applications, but it has allowed me to reconnect with relatives, friends and former parishioners.  I have been able to communicate with classmates from college as well as keep up with their families and life events.

I may forget the names of people, and many have forgotten about me.  This is the way things seem to work in life.  I have the promise that God remembers me!   Today that gives me hope and courage.  I am remembering a verse that reminds me to remember the Lord:  Psalm 77:11 “I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago”.

Lord today I have reflected on my life and I am remembering all of your blessings and protection.  I am blessed and You are a good God, and you have been and are Faithful forever.
