I came across a familiar verse in Jeremiah 33:3 a couple of days ago. ‘Call to me, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

Our Heavenly Father gives us a wonderful reminder. Call. All of us at one time or the other, have been reminded not to forget to make specific calls. There are reminders to call mom and a host of others who would love to hear from us… Advertisements implore us to contact the toll-free number where operators are standing by, right now! There are a lot of people that you can call upon for help, but there is only one God, and He instructs us to call on Him!

God promises that if we call, He answers. When we discuss God’s answers, our default is usually God answered me when He did what I wanted. Often we do not consider prayers answered if they are different than what we were hoping for or anticipating. As a parent, we know firsthand the disappointment that comes from a child when we do not answer their plea in the way they desired. Remember, no is as much of an answer as yes. At times a closed door is the best result, even when we do not understand or feel let down.

God promises that when we look to Him, he will give us great and unsearchable things. God wants to assist us, and He wants us to depend upon Him. Unsearchable things are what He says He will do, unsearchable means He will do things that we could never have planned or expected. His ways are better than our most vivid imagination. He says He will help us in ways we are not expecting.

Jeremiah 33:3 reminds us that God is always available, and He wants us to trust in Him. He is still available. While we are on cell phones, perhaps we could put them down and call on the One who has promised to answer us and give us exciting and unimaginable answers—looking for some answers? Why not call on God? He promises that He will respond.
